What is a COZA voting ticket? Print

  • 20

When UniForum SA (the registrar for co.za domain names) receives an Update Form to change the registration information of a domain name, voting tickets get sent from their server to the guardians of the domain name to verify the legitimacy of the update. A voting ticket is an email containing proposed information for the domain's record.

The guardians of a domain name are: The Domain Owner (Registrant), The Administrative Contact, The Technical Contact and the address listed in the SOA record of the domain name as the contact person. The guardians can then use the tickets to vote on the update and have 24 hours to submit their votes. If there is at least one positive reply and no negative replies to this email, the change will take place.

When there is a successful update, the guardians of the domain name will receive an email that the update has been completed.

How will I know who initiated the update request?

The voting ticket (email) will be sent from UniForum SA with ticketman@co.za as the sender's email address.

The email form will clearly indicate the email address of the person who requested an update of the registration information..
